Grizzly bears occupy the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Dogs can escalate grizzly encounters to attacks. Leash dogs at all times in Greater Yellowstone and Teton Wilderness.
Black bears throughout WY mountain ranges. Carry bear spray. Keep dogs close and leashed near berry patches and stream corridors.
Moose are aggressive around dogs. High density near Jackson Hole, Dubois, and Wind River Range willows. Dogs have been killed by moose — leash mandatory near willows and wet meadows.
Year-round in WY forests. Dogs frequently quilled — keep leashed in forested areas.
Wolf packs in Greater Yellowstone. Dogs can be mistaken for prey or rival canids. Keep on-leash in wolf-active areas.
