Arizona's North American Monsoon brings intense afternoon thunderstorms Jul–Sep. Flash floods kill more people in AZ than any other weather event. NEVER enter a flooded wash. Check washes before crossing — a flood can arrive 30 min after a distant storm you cannot see. Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Phoenix and low-desert areas routinely exceed 115°F in June. Sonoran Desert hiking is dangerous Jun–Sep below 5,000 ft. Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak see multiple rescues weekly in summer. Hike only before 7am or after sunset. 1L water per hour minimum.
